Chamber Christmas Party – 2023

A beautiful December evening at Northbrook delivered a wonderful party for our 2023 honorees. The night began at the bar, with attendees admiring a wide variety of ugly Christmas sweaters. Dinner service began promptly at 7:00pm, with a scrumptious buffet of broasted chicken, baked potatoes, and prime rib sliced to order. As guests tucked into a cheesecake dessert, chamber president Jordan Ebert began the program with an overview of the year’s events and accomplishments. He introduced board member Alex Stodola to give an update on the website and the 2024 parade, and then the village president, Dan Porath, gave a colorful update on new business in the village of Luxemburg.

Following those update, the program began in earnest, with LC Primary School principal Pete Kline presenting the Spartan Spirit Award to Mary LaCrosse for her can-do attitude and willingness to help out throughout the school district.

Next, Dan Opicka’s FAVORITE aunt presented him with the Community Service Award, citing his work in the LC Community Band (Tuba Dan), the Luxemburg Rescue Squad, and the LCpl Dean Opicka Memorial Softball Tournament, as well as his humble attitude to service.

Finally, Kelly Froelich’s aunt (also the FAVORITE) presented him with the Person of the Year award. She detailed Kelly’s dedication to the Luxemburg community beginning when he was a teenager, working with youth programs and building a DJ business – donating its services to those same non-profit youth organizations. Today, Kelly operates the Rendezvous of Luxemburg, a successful restaurant and event space. While hosting events for nonprofit and fundraising groups, he has made a habit of joining those organizations and providing valuable leadership experience.

With the awards… awarded, celebrants returned to the bar and the award winners and their families posed for photos:
